how do I take VOWST®?

VOWST is taken orally at home after antibiotics in a 2-step dosing routine

ANTIBIOTICS

STEP 1: Finish a full course of antibiotics

You should have on hand the laxative your healthcare provider prescribed to take it within 1-3 days after
finishing the antibiotic.

Then:

Drink the single-dose, 10-ounce laxative (typically magnesium citrate). But your healthcare provider may recommend something different, for example, if you have kidney disease.

3 Days

Step 2: Take 4 capsules of VOWST orally once a day for 3 days

Do not eat or drink for at least 8 hours before your first dose of VOWST.

For example, you can take the laxative in the evening (at least 8 hours before taking the first dose of VOWST) and fast overnight.

Take VOWST before your first meal, on an empty stomach
Swallow each capsule whole. DO NOT crush, chew, or break the capsules
Do not take VOWST at the same time as antibiotics or the laxative

Taking a laxative after you’ve been suffering from diarrhea may sound unusual.
But taking a laxative is important because it can rid your gut of any leftover
antibiotics so that VOWST can work properly.
